I remember years ago when this slogan became famous. It was a phrase made popular by then First Lady Nancy Reagan, in support of the national anti-drug campaign. When she was asked what one should say when offered drugs, she replied... "Just say No"! I think of this slogan whenever I'm being confronted with suggestions or things that are meant to destroy me. It seems simple enough. It doesn't appear to be a hard thing to do, so why do we contemplate and consider partaking in the very things we know mean us no good?
We naturally use the word "No" daily, often without a second thought. As parents, managers, spouses and so forth, we say "No" on a regularly. Probably more than we should. So, the issue is not using the word no, the issue is mustering up the strength to use the word when faced with a personal choice. Especially a choice that you may desire on some level. I can honestly say that it takes courage to walk away from some things, people, and circumstances. But, saying no today will save you from a lot of heartache and pitfalls tomorrow. The Bible says in James 4:7, "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you". When others urge you to do the opposite of what you know is right, just say no! When you sit and reminisce of those that walked out on you and a spirit of depression wants to settle on you, just say no! When the enemy tries to tell you your future, who you are and who you're not, just say no! We do not have to accept anything that is not God ordained for our lives. We have been given all power over all power of our enemy. Anything that challenges your peace, your joy or your life in Christ, remember you have the power to just say NO!
