Says Who?

Have you ever been asked a question that challenged your desires or your goals in life? Possibly in the form of an unintentional jab at your vision or ideas? Though innocent and unintentional, these questions tend to cause us to step back and begin to question ourselves. We start to ask questions like, am I capable, can I really do this or what makes me qualified for this task? I want you to know that these feelings and even these questions are common. For some reason, we all have a tendency to equate our value with other people's opinion of us. This is one of the biggest challenges we face in life. The challenge of separating ourselves from the burden of being accepted by others and to appreciate the unique individuals we were created to be.

It all boils down to a desire to be accepted and understood. If we are not accepted or understood by others, we feel alone, and no one wants to be alone. We feel stronger when we have the backing of others, we feel supported and somehow validated. But, today I want to turn the tables. I want us to be liberated even when we must walk alone. If no one understands your vision, and if no one ever understands your goals, I want you to be okay with standing alone and do so confidently. When others question your abilities and tell you what you cannot do, I want you to ask "Says Who?". The Bible tells me that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. If Christ is my strength, I don't need your validation nor your agreeance. I am justified by the life, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ alone.

So, the next time anyone questions you, doubts you or tells you what you're not, ask them "Says Who?". I know what Father God says about me. Numbers 23:19 says "God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?". If He said I can have it, I CAN! If He says I can be it, I CAN! If He says I can do it, I CAN and whomever says otherwise is irrelevant. Says who? Says God!
